Does Sun Mountain Lodge have swimming pools?

Yes. Sun Mountain Lodge features two outdoor heated swimming pools — one located at the Main Lodge and another at the Gardner Wing. Both pools are open seasonally during the summer months and are available exclusively to overnight guests.

Can kids visit the ranch animals?

Patterson Lake offers kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, rowboats, pedal boats, and swimming. Equipment rentals are available through Sun Mountain Adventures, and guided family experiences can also be arranged.

Yes. Sun Mountain Lodge is considered one of the best family resorts in Washington State for young children. In addition to swimming pools, ranch animals, and Patterson Lake, families enjoy hiking trails, s’mores around the fire, and wide-open spaces where kids can roam and explore.

When is the best time to visit Sun Mountain Lodge for swimming and water sports?

Summer, from June through August, is the most popular time for outdoor swimming and water sports at Patterson Lake. The Methow Valley typically enjoys warm temperatures, sunny days, and clear skies during this season. Pools generally open in late spring and close in early fall.

Do I need to bring any equipment for activities or adventures?

No, Sun Mountain Lodge has a dedicated Adventure Shop. You can rent equipment for any activity or adventure.

How far is Sun Mountain Lodge from Seattle?

Sun Mountain Lodge is approximately 4 to 4.5 hours from Seattle by car. During spring, summer, and fall, many travelers choose the scenic North Cascades Highway (Highway 20). Highway 2 through Wenatchee and Leavenworth offers a beautiful year-round alternative.
