Peak experiences. Fresh air. Open skies. And
3,000 private acres of magnificent wilderness land. Sun Mountain
Lodge is an all-season mountain resort offering an endless choice
of healthy and ambitious activities for all ages and skill levels.
"In short, it's kind of a recreational fantasyland - very comfortable,
with lots of good food waiting at the end of the day" (Lonely
Planet, Pacific NW.) In summer, there is horseback riding, the
Cowboy Dinner, and the Cowboy Breakfast. Float the Methow
River on a scenic or whitewater raft trip. Rent a mountain bike
and ride our extensive trail system. Go fly fishing with North Cascade Flyfishing. Rent a canoe or kayak and paddle
Patterson Lake. Golf at nearby Bear Creek, Alta Lake, Bear Mountain
or Desert
Canyon Golf Courses. Swim in two beautiful outdoor pools or
soak in two hot tubs with magnificent views.
Try your hand at tennis on one of our four courts.
All in all, you could return year after year and still have new
things to try here at Sun Mountain Lodge.

First Annual Winthrop Marathon
The first annual Winthrop Marathon will be held September 26 2010. Starting on the edge of the Pasayten Wilderness in the Okanogan National Forest the course will follow the Chewuch River on Forest Service and rural county roads to the "western" town Winthrop in the heart of the beautiful Methow River Valley. The certified distance, "net downhill" course is located on the sunny side of the North Cascades so there's a good chance the weather will be perfect for running, enjoying the views and hanging out with friends and family at the finishline. And yes it's a "Boston Qualifier"!!!
