Fly Fishing in Washington State's Methow Valley

Washington State's Methow Valley near Winthrop is one of the premier fly fishing destinations in the Pacific
Northwest. Choose from catch and release fisheries of the crystal clear Methow River with rainbow and cutthroat
trout, or the private Moccasin Lake with its special Kamloops Trout/Steelhead hybrid. Or, check out the
fabulous steelhead season on the Methow.

Whatever your fly fishing pleasure, you'll find it at Sun Mountain Lodge. North Cascades Fly Fishing, based at
Sun Mountain Lodge, has expert guides and a 14-foot inflatable, self-bailing raft with a top of the line fishing frame for floating the Methow River. Both cushioned seats swivel, allowing a cast to every riffle, rock and shoreline in a relaxed fashion. A stable casting platform and thigh bar provide the opportunity for fast action angling.

They also offer their expertise for Moccasin Lake, a 30 acre private lake located just minutes from Sun Mountain Lodge. Only six rods at a time are allowed and the lake is surrounded by rangeland and mountains – a very private and pristine retreat. Average fish size exceeds 3.5 lbs., with some takes in excess of 10 lbs.!

Also located at Sun Mountain Lodge is a fully-stocked fly fishing shop. The Sun Mountain Lodge Fly Shop carries top name brands including Sage rods, Simms waders and wading boots, Rio lines, Ross reels, and all the accessories. Plus, over 100 different types of flies. The Fly Shop is open 7 days a week for your convenience.

Fishing Report:

Methow River, August 20: The Methow River has seen some incredible fishing for big fish. Many fish in the 17"-20" range. All sections of the river have been fishing well. Wading and floating have both been productive, just pick your stretch and have a great time! For best results, try fishing stonefly, mayfly and caddis patterns. The rainstorms this week are making the river a little off-color.

Guided fly fishing trips to Moccasin Lake
Offered in May, June, September and October.
~ $195 per day
Moccasin Lake, one of Washington's premiere fisheries.
Classic Stillwater fly fishing for rainbow trout up to 15 lbs. and
German browns up to 7 lbs.

Sage fly rods available for rent.
$15 per day.

Pricing Full day float trip: $425/boat (1 or 2 people) $100 per each additional person
Half day float trip: $300/boat (1 or 2 people) $75 per each additional person
Full day wading trip: $325 (1 or 2 people) $75 each additional person - 3ppl max per guide
Half day wading trip: $225 (1 or 2 people)
$50 each additional person - 3ppl max per guide

All full day trips include full-service guiding, a delicious catered lunch, snacks and beverages. Flies not included but available for purchase. Rods and reels are available if needed at no additional charge.
Waders and wading boots available for $5/pair.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given if cancellation is made 30 days prior to trip. If trip is cancelled within 30 days, and we are unable to rebook date, a negotiable % will be refunded. If we are able to rebook date, a rain check will be issued to be used through the following season.

We Provide: Full guided service with in-depth knowledge of the fishing, and the Methow Valley as a whole - A catered lunch with all full day trips - we can provide full instruction on the day of the trip, although an intro to fly-fishing class is recommended and available for beginners prior to trip.

You Provide: Washington State fishing license - Fishing gear and flies - Please inform us of your needs in advance, and we can set-up all necessary arrangements for you.
